Having a social life is important at any age and our team work hard to ensure that all ages can experience this. We run regular Generation Days to help bring together different ages and groups within the local community. If you or your carer deems you to be at risk of loneliness, then you will be invited to these events.
These events are a great way of meeting new people and giving you or your elderly relatives a way of socialising outside of their usual circles.
Our Generation Days give elderly members of the local community a chance to socialise and meet new people. Feeling lonely can be something that we all experience but days like this help people to feel happy and enjoy the surroundings around them. The days see elderly people spend time with younger children and both age groups are encouraged to interact through play, stories, songs, dance, and lunch.
The children send pictures to the elderly to invite them to visit, including them in the day at all times. Sometimes the children can be weary at first but interact over time. In the past, some of the elderly have shared nursery rhymes from their childhood. Both age groups have enjoyed dancing with balloons in the past, so this may be something you would enjoy doing.
A carer stays with the elderly throughout the whole visit and children are supervised by practitioners all the time as usual.
